Polka dots and stripes, Aztec print and florals, mixing and matching prints is not something that we would normally call fashionable, in fact, there was a time when we would be apt to call those pairings tragic, but the time has come for the mix and match look to have its’ time in the sun, and no that is not a typo! Individuality is having a moment in fashion right now, DIY looking styles are reigning everywhere from high fashion runways to Etsy online shops; being yourself has never been so trendsetting! Gone are the days of jumping on the bandwagon to replicate the ‘hot right now’ looks; mixing, layering, color blocking, you name it, you can do it. It seems as though we are going through a transition fashion wise right now, a no rules kind of moment if you will, and we love it!
For those that are hesitant to try this bold new look, we certainly don’t blame you, it can be a lot to take in; yet really anyone can pull this off,
and there are some serious pros that outweigh the cons. First off, remember that fashion is supposed to be fun! Mixing colors and patterns can be lovely, wear a striped top with a floral maxi skirt and you are guaranteed to be the brightest in the room! The addition of a belt with a look like this or of the same caliber would break up the patterns evenly and give your waist some nice definition. Speaking of definition, pairing a patterned top with something of a high waisted nature on the bottom does wonders for your figure! Does it get much better than that?
The very thought of ‘more is more’ can be quite out of the box for some ladies, but not to worry, we can always do a little less with the ensemble, keeping your accessories and shoes simple will definitely help to accomplish this. Yet, don’t be afraid to have fun with say, some large sunglasses or floppy hat! Lastly, let us not forget that it is pretty much officially summer now, which means that this is the best time of year to wear bright colors, making this trend so very on point! So what do we think, is more, in fact, more for you?
