The age old saying goes without saying, who wouldn’t love a sparkling jewel filled with love? Just to be the devils advocate, however, I have another theory. Diamonds aren’t a girls best friend, SHOES are.

Reasoning- shoes can be fun, flirty, and are always in your closest when you need them most. Sometimes an old pair of shoes will surprise you with how well they can help you out. And, you certainly can not live your life without them.

Diamonds on the other hand are much more stiff then shoes. I don’t know about you, but I would much prefer an exciting and adventurous best friend then an expensive piece of work.

Now that I have ranted about how shoes are a girls real best friend, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Colored tights with matching shoes are the perfect holiday outfit. Imagine this: a nice wool skirt with red tights and red shoes at your next holiday party. How cute! The combination will Make your outfit both conservative and fun. Mom AND Mrs. Jones the next door neighbor stare in awe. Take a look at an example below, a runway picture from fall 2010.

 As you would with any best friend, treat your shoes kindly. They enjoy romps around town and do not take well to scuffs from careless moves. They conform perfectly to you as time goes on and soon you will never want to let them go. Especially when Billy (your old high school crush) gives you a wink from across the room.

Backstreet is BACK and managed to get the closing act at last Sunday’s American Music Awards alongside (a much older looking) New Kids on the Block. Okay great- that’s fantastic but did anyone else notice the striking manicures that adorned more then one female performer? Let’s take a look at some of the nail trends set by these starlets:

Katy Perry, notorious for her color choices (remember when she wore hubby Russell Brand’s face on all 10 of her nails?!), went much safer with a bright red. Almost the same color as her body suit, which she pulled of effortlessly.

Miley also uses a dark red to draw attention to her nails. The color suited her performance which looked like it belonged in a Twilight movie.

Classic and clean, Fergie opted for a clear polish. Her dress makes a statement and the nails do not distract, good call Ms. Duhamel

Christina, welcome back to the spotlight! What better color choice then a red? I’m seeing a color trend…

Rihanna, our favorite “Shellacy” steered clear from the red color her friends went with and decided on a dark shade. Does anyone else think her hair looks incredible?!

Jeggs. Comfortable, affordable, and perfect to have during the holiday season as you see your waistline (inevitably) grow from all the delicious pumpkin pie, and desert cocktails. Don’t worry, no one is judging, it happens to everyone and there is a simple answer to the problem: jeggings.

What exactly are “jeggs” you may ask. Phonetically, the word comes from “jeans” and “leggings” which is exactly what this new fashion staple consists of. Jeggs appear as though they are jeans, with back pockets, zippers, and everything you would imagine  but actually feel and stretch like a pair of leggings. Jeggs- stretchy and classy. No longer are sweatpants  the only comfortable article of clothing in your closet between Christmas and January 1st. Jeggings are saving people from being on the “frumpy” list all over the globe.

Jeggings come in a variety of different patterns: jean, velvet, stretchy cotton, and even… corduroy. Yes, we said it corduroy is back in. Below, is a picture of the one and only corduroy jeggs:

Kate Middleton is on her way to becoming the UK’s most adored fashion icon. Young, classy, beautiful, and engaged to the worlds most eligable bachelor, it should not be a surprise that she is already one of the most photographed women in Great Britian.

So what makes Kate’s wardrobe such a success?

Well, besides one gorgeous accessory (Prince William) Kate keeps her style looking crisp, clean, and effortless. Here are some of our favorite outfits:

Kate  never looks like she is trying too hard and that adds to her appeal. She looks approachable and confident, key to any woman’s style. Kate’s natural beauty shines through her clothing choices. No wonder she’s engaged to a bonafied Prince!

Buzz buzz.. Shellac is taking over the world. That’s right, you heard it here first because I am convinced! The gel polish that we all know and love (up to 14 days no chips and a mirror finish..yes please) is beginning to take over Hollywood.

The list keeps getting longer and longer with celebrities itching to try the hottest new accessory but the next celebrity to catch Shellac fever has cemented the polish in fashion books everywhere. Drum roll, please… 

Kate Moss, will you please stand up? Gone are the days of Pete Doherty and un flattering photos in compromising situations, the supermodel is back on top! Thank you, Kate for making a world of better choices. We think both your lifestyle and unmistakeably gorgeous manicure is fantastic.

Now the fun part, if I were to imagine the shellac color choice for Ms. Moss I would have to go with the dark Fedora. It is fall, after all, and the color would look stunning against her blonde locks.

The fall season brings about an aray of happy memories: changing leaves, brisk nights, halloween, and of course the distinct October sunlight.

This weekend, you guessed it, the Wall Street Journal provided us with a sneak peak of falls best colors. We never want our loyal fans to be out of the loop so we are providing you with a Pinkies perspective of falls most sought after nail colors.

First, Wall Street Journal suggests a cranberry red. Pinkies suggests OPI’s Suzi Says Da! as in DA this nail color look fab-u-lous. The rich red is reminiscent of the deep red leaves of an east coast maple tree.  The color looks great everywhere and with everything- casual or elegant.

Next up! The journal suggests a color that reflects the comfort of the sunlight. Drum roll, please… why don’t you go with Essie “Mambo.” Note: this soft orangish red will keep you dancing all the way into December.

Third times a charm and its suggested we try an earth tone green. We’ve got just the match- howz about “Here Today Aragon Tomorrow.” Gosh these names are almost as cool as the colors inside. Take a look at this one below:

Finally we will wrap it up with a purple. Because lets face it, when does purple actually ever go out of style? The deep and passionate purple that will look best for the season is OPI’s “Siberian Nights.” Be careful, this color is known to get girls into trouble so PLEASE handle with care when at social events.

And ladies, there it is. Falls best colors. Now the most difficult part… deciding which to try first.

Between Halloween and the World Series, San Francisco is a powerful force and everyone has a reason to celebrate. Women around the bay area should be sporting their team (or halloween for that matter) colors by getting sparkling orange and black mani’s.

Opi in Onyx makes a statement

The Giants have had an impressive season and tonight could be the grand finale! They certainly deserve the prize, has it been fifty years now since they have taken the title? Tis the season to grab your best girl friend, stop into Pinkies and then head downtown to revel in all the madness. Who knows, Ross will probably be hitting a home run this evening but your mani is sure to be the grandslam!

Now all we need is a few closeups of Brian Wilson as he closes what is sure to be a historic game this evening. Might just be me, but there is something about his eyes when he pitches, ahh… best be getting him in here for a hand massage soon!
