Celebrity Manicures At The Golden Globes 2014

Nail art, bold hues, metallics, and glitter manicures ruled on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globes. See the stars whose nails reigned supreme:

Zooey Deschanel’s daisy nail art takes the cake for the most intricate manicure!

Mrs. Channing Tatum (aka Jenna Dewan) rocked a red manicure that paired beautifully with her white and black embellished gown and black clutch.

Hello nail art inspiration: Kerry Washington’s chic pastel half moon manicure offered the perfect contrast to her stunning cream gown.

Monica Potter rocked glittery nail art that complimented her black and gold dress perfectly. She paired Essie Cashmere Bathrobe as a base with Essie Beyond Cozy at the tips.

Taylor Schilling wore a deep oxblood manicure to offset her bright emerald gown.

Michelle Dockery wore a monochromatic rose gold and gold ensemble using Essie’s Penny Talk.

Reese Witherspoon chose a glossy and glamorous rouge noir shade for a classic look.

Five Glitter Manicures To Try

Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean that you need to stop wearing sparkles! Read on for our favorite glittering manicures…

{Left to Right}:

Ombre Glitter Manicure: Paint your entire nail in one glitter shade, and add another glitter polish in a contrasting color to the upper half of your nails, concentrating it at the tips for a glamorous, chic look!

Glitter French Manicure: Love french manicures but want a fresh spin on the classic look? Try a french manicure using glitter on the tips instead of traditional white for a modern, fun look.

Reverse French Glitter: An even funkier version of the classic french manicure is the reverse french manicure. Try using glitter on the bottom of each nail in a crescent shape with an opaque polish on the rest of the nail to achieve this look.

Glitter Gradient: A glitter gradient manicure is a great way to embellish a classic color such as nude or pale pink.

Glitter Accent Nail: Add a glitter accent nail to your manicure for an unexpected pop of glamour!

2014 Nail Trends

Radiant Orchid Manicures: Try adopting the color of the year by trying it on your nails. We love Essie’s ‘The Lace is On’ and Essie’s ‘Perky Purple’!

Modern Take On The French Manicure: Forget pink and white and horizontal lines this year. Curved and diagonal lined french manicures in fun color combos were seen all over the Spring 2014 runways such as at Holmes and Yang.  Get Olivia Wilde’s modern, thin lined french manicure look by using Essie’s ‘Blanc’ all over the nail, with an ultra thin swipe of Essie’s ‘licorice’ at the tips.

Subtle Ombre Manicures: Nail art is supposedly out for 2014 (we’re not so sure if we agree!), and subtle ombre manicures are so in. We love this blush combination as seen at Zac Posen’s Spring 2014 fashion show. To get the look, try using Essie’s ‘Ballet Slippers’ and Essie’s ‘Topless And Barefoot’ polishes together to create a chic ombre manicure.

Pantone Color Of The Year 2014: Radiant Orchid

Pantone, the global authority on all things color has just revealed the color of the year for 2014: Radiant Orchid! Leatrice Eiesman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute explains why the color was chosen as the color of the year: “While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination. An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Are you excited by Pantone’s color of the year for 2014? If you’re not too sure, or want to test out the trend, there’s no better way than to try a radiant orchid manicure or pedicure!
